The new Yamaha MT-07 has already impressed the world’s press with its blend of light weight, compact dimensions and responsive, 689cc twin cylinder engine. The MT-07 offers a unique blend of performance and handling that will satisfy even the most experienced riders and with a recommended price of £5199 it redefines the word ‘value’ in this competitive middleweight class.

                                                            OVERVIEW

 Yamaha MT series is a mixture of naked, Sports bike and cruiser which was initiated in 2005 when MT-01 was released which was shown earlier in 1999 Tokyo Motor Show as a concept motorcycle. Recently, Yamaha showcased 2014 Yamaha MT-07 at 71st EICMA show on November 4, 2013 in Milan, Italy. It is drawing a lot of eyes towards itself due to its spectacular looks, looking like a little brother of Yamaha FZ-09, as more a city-oriented bike with great power and torque values. It will be launched in a few monthsin the Indian market.

                                                        Design and Style

2014 Yamaha MT-07 has got everything it takes to be a champion of its segment. It has got a lightweight backbone frame, bright headlight, muscular panels, sporty striking lines, lightweight air intake-style scoops, split and comfortable angular seats, LED tail lamps, chunky and short exhaust with down pipes, nicely placed handlebar with an easy-to-read LED display which includes a gear position indicator and fuel gauge and a bar-type tachometer which features its tallest bars in the range of 4000-8000rpm, a slim fuel tank with a capacity of 14 litres and perfect knee-grip, aluminium side covers, diamond frame chassis, angular mirrors and 17-inch, 10-spoke lightweight cast aluminium wheels with tubeless tires. It has a length of 2085mm, a width of 745mm and a height of 1090mm as its dimensions along with a seat height of 805mm. It has a large wheelbase of 1400mm for a stable and comfortable ride and a ground clearance of 140mm for a bump-free ride. It has the oil tank capacity of 3 litres and a wet weight of 179kgs which became 182kgs if the bike has the optional ABS.

  

                                                        ENGINE AND GEAR BOX

 2014 Yamaha MT-07 has an all-new 689cc, In-line 2-cylinders, 4-valves, 4-stroke, Liquid-cooled, Wet Sump Lubricated, TCI Ignition system, Fuel Injection Carburettor, Wet Multiple Disc Clutch, 11.5:1 Compression ratio, 270-degrees crank, DOHC based, parallel-twin engine with a maximum power of 74 bhp at 9000 rpm and a maximum torque of 68 Nm at 6500 rpm and has a 6-speed constant-mesh transmission. Its chassis has a caster angle and trail of 24-degrees and 90mm respectively and has a front and rear travel of 130mm each.

                                                                            SHADES

 2014 Yamaha MT-07 will be available in a single variant in five shades which includes Deep Armor, Matt Grey, Competition White, Race Blue and Racing Red. The expected ex-showroom, Delhi price for this superfluous bike is INR 7.0 lakhs which may vary.
